Former PL striker claims Klopp should replace star forward with either Mbappe or Sancho

Former Premier League striker turned TV pundit Darren Bent has made a stunning claim that Liverpool should sell their star forward Mohamed Salah if they can replace him with either of Kylian Mbappe or Jadon Sancho.

The 27-year-old Egyptian forward given a sensational return of 89 goals in 137 matches for the Reds since joining from Roma for £34million in 2017.

The Egyptian superstar is the Reds' top scorer this season. Salah has 14 Premier League goals to his name as the Reds are in touching distance to end their 30-year league title drought.

Bent, however, believes that Jurgen Klopp’s side could become even stronger without their number eleven.

Bent told talkSPORT: “Listen, we know he scores a lot of goals and he is a top, top player. Two Golden Boots, Player of the Season, Champions League winner, about to be a Premier League winner, the accolades are there.

“But when you look at his general play to say someone like Mane, I'd have to say Mane's been better than him.

“He may score more goals than Mane, but Mane's work-rate for the team, he's unselfish, always looks for others first, he'll get his fair share of goals. So you can't sell Mane, he's so important.

“Firmino, we know he doesn't score that many goals, but he's the glue, he links it all together. His hold-up play is arguably one of the best in the league. He brings players in, holds on to the ball, he's fantastic.”

The former Spurs striker also said that Klopp should not be scared of losing his star Egyptian if he can replace him with either Sancho or Mbappe, two of the best young players in the world.

He added: “It's not about selling him and getting £100million and that's it, but if you can replace him with an Mbappe or someone like a Jadon Sancho, I think it's worth thinking about.”

Both Mbappe and Sancho have been linked numerous times with the Reds in recent months and both of them would cost them a fortune.

Liverpool's attacking trio is arguably the world's best attacking unit. Therefor, it will be a bit strange if Klopp decides to make any kind of alterations to what is a deadly system.
