Liverpool duo to be offered mega deals by the Merseyside club
Runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool are reportedly looking to tie down their star defender Virgil van Dijk and keeper Alisson Becker with long-term contracts.
The two have been immense for the Reds since they joined the club and have played key roles behind the Reds' dominance in both Europe and England.
And, Liverpool seemingly acknowledge that and want to tie down the duo for a long-time at Anfield.
According to the Independent, the Reds' "priority is to lock down the world’s best centre-back and goalkeeper for the long-term with both wanting extended contracts".
Since van Dijk arrived at Anfield, the Reds have gone on to become the strongest side defensively in the league from being one of the worst among the top clubs.
He is the leader of the Liverpool defence, which has conceded just 15 Premier League goals in 25 games this season.
Meanwhile, Alisson Becker has finally been able to provide the fans an assurance under the bar which none of the keepers since Pepe Reina could.
Both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius were error-prone and cost the Reds dearly more often than not.
The Brazilian international moved for a fee of £67m from AS Roma which was then the highest for a goalkeeper before Chelsea broke it with Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Reports in England and Italy claim that Juventus are plotting a stunning £150 million summer swoop for Virgil van Dijk in order to end their long drought for the Champions League.
The Serie A champions want to make the Liverpool star the world’s most expensive defender for the second time.
It is understood that the the Dutchman might be open to a move abroad if the Reds win the title this season to add to their Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup honours.
And, Liverpool are looking to ensure that they can retain the core of the team as the aspire to dominate England and Europe for many years to come.
Therefore, they are said be preparing mega deals for the two pillars of their backline.
