Liverpool was struck with a blow last week in the champions league as they lost to Atalanta at Anfield, something we don't see very often and the fact that the Reds failed to score at home was even harder to anticipate.

They will be looking to settle their scores in the Champions League by locking horns with Ajax, this week on Tuesday night. 

Considering Ajax's run of form, and Liverpool's injury crisis, things may get tricky as Liverpool have one of the tightest groups and the 18/19 champions will have to do a lot to get through the group stages.

Recent form: 

Liverpool looked like the go-to team again this season, despite so many injuries thrown at them. However, the last two games have been pretty different for the Reds and it seems they'll have a tough time retaining the title. 

Ajax, on the other side, has been playing some really confident football in 2020, and the team's fitness levels only prove how they have benefitted from the league being declared void in April. 

The Dutch side is currently involved in an eight-game run, winning their last six in a row, one of the triumphs being a 13-0 win.

The last time the sides played each other, it was Ajax that played at home in Amsterdam in the Johan Cruijff Arena, where Liverpool won 1-0 as a result of a 35th minute Nicolas Tagliafico own goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are due to make a comeback until December with a muscular and knee concern respectively. James Milner is another addition to the list of absentees with a hamstring issue he sustained in their last game against Brighton, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

Thiago Alcantara and Xherdan Shaqiri are out too. On the contrary, Ajax has only one case to handle and that is quite clear. The key attacker Mohammed Kudus is out until 2021 due to a meniscus tear.

Players to Look out for: Konstantinos Tsimikas will be an intriguing pick to watch as he is likely to feature if Andrew Robertson is rested. The midfield will have the Japanese Takumi Minamino and Curtis Jones together, who are exciting prospects to watch too.

The Ajax front three are an excellent combination of players. Taking that into consideration, the role played by Daley Blind and Davy Klaassen in the midfield will be instrumental as Ajax would want to keep their unbeaten run alive and running.

Liverpool vs Ajax Prediction:

Liverpool top the group with a gap of two points. However, their defeat to Atalanta in the last game week means that the spots are still open and a win for Atalanta against Midtjylland and loss for Liverpool could push Klopp and co into the Europa League. 

However, we know Liverpool's fighting spirit and it will be an intense thriller to see who comes on top.
