Permission granted. Liverpool to wear FIFA 'World Champions' badge for one game

Liverpool’s appeal was successful and now they will be allowed to wear the FIFA ‘World Champions’ badge for one Premier League game.

All this was possible after being granted permission following a successful bid to the Premier League authorities.

The Reds beat Flamengo in an action packed final, scoring the winning goal in the extra time to secure the trophy in Qatar. The club then immediately released a statement to be allowed to make use of the badge despite the use of such additional patches going against league regulations.

Earlier, they were only permitted to represent the badge in the Champions League. But, now with the successful appeal, they can proudly feature the badge on their jerseys.

However, they are permitted to do so only for one Premier League game. The game will be a special one as they take on their former manager, Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City, who are currently second in the table, 10 points behind Liverpool.

Leicester will be looking to cut short the 10-point lead as they host the Club World Champions at the King Power stadium. A Boxing Day clash has always been a day of surprising results and there could not be a better opportunity for the Reds to prove that they are the best club in the world at the moment.

With a win, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be 13 points above Leicester. The 2015-16 champions though, would be looking to climb up a spot and become the closest team to Liverpool.

Manchester City take on Wolves, which will again be a thrilling encounter. Wolves are a tough nut to crack as evidenced by the fact that they defeated the Champions at the Ethiad earlier this season.

A delay in providing the specially designed-kits can cause some problems as this thrilling contest will not feature any jerseys with the Club World Cup badge.

Liverpool will then have to wait till the 29th of December, when they face Wolves at Anfield to wear the badge. Whenever it happens, it will be a proud moment for everyone related to Liverpool.
