Paul Pogba is ready for a strong post Christmas schedule
Paul Pogba made a long-awaited comeback from an ankle injury by substituting Jesse Lingard in the second half of a 2-0 defeat at Watford on Sunday.
With a short but very effective spell, Pogba proved that class is permanent. He created more chances than the entire team created before he was brought on the pitch.
Pogba proved that he is without a doubt the best play-maker at United at the moment and apart from him, there are very few players who are actually close to his level.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer welcomed the Frenchman’s return and described him as the “best all-round midfielder in the world.”
Pogba’s appearance was the France World Cup winner’s first appearance since September and Solskjaer looks forward to a fitter and stronger Pogba in the near future.
The United boss said,” He did really well when he came on. It’s a big, big plus, and it might be that we do get him in from the start.”
“He can play anywhere, the whole midfield. He’s a box-to-box midfielder. He can drop deep, play them long passes, get higher up and combine, play one-twos. Him, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford creating chances down that side- so it depends on the game.”
“That’s the beauty of having Paul. He is the best all-round midfielder in the world, he can do all roles, but if I play him low, he should’ve played high and if I play him high, he should’ve played low.” He further added that these things will be discussed with him and it will be taken care of.
Pogba’s presence in the United squad will add much value to the overall performance due to his leading capabilities. His creativity and vision are not questionable at all but he has not really had much time playing with the current front three, altogether in a game.
That will be a very beautiful thing to look at since the front three of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James have shown their quality on the counter against every team possible. Now with Pogba back, expectations are high after a comparatively poor season till Christmas.
