Manchester City to offer Raheem Sterling new deal to fend off Real Madrid interest

Premier League holders Manchester City are preparing a whooping £450,000-a-week deal for star winger Raheem Sterling. They will be offering the English star a new deal, in order to fend off transfer any interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, if reports in England are to be believed. 

The 24-year-old has cemented his place as one of the most consistent and lethal wide forwards in the game in recent seasons. He is high potential makes him one of the most sought-after players and a target for continental giants.

It is hardly a surprise to see Sterling in the wish-list of a club like Real Madrid, who always want the best players in the world. Due to this, Manchester City are looking to make a statement by offering the star forward a deal worth £450,000-a-week. 

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the England international and is keen to reward him with a lucrative extension to his current contract, which expires in the summer of 2023. The former Liverpool star last signed a contract previously in November 2018, to take his wages up to around £280k-a-week but has recently expressed his desire to play abroad. 

He said, "Ever since I was a kid, 100 percent it has always been a dream of mine to play abroad somewhere. It would be nice one day to finish training and go home and sit in your garden and eat some dinner. I would need to see where it is minimum 17C or 18C constantly." 

If Sterling signs the new deal, he will become the highest-paid footballer in the Premier League. The deal will almost confirm that Sterling will remain at the Etihad for the foreseeable future. 

A new deal, however, would also far eclipse by far, Kevin de Bruyne's £350k-a-week deal that is currently the highest at the club. This might upset the Belgian considering he is one of the best players in the world at present. It might lead to a huge hike in overall payroll at the club, with other star players also likely to demand major raises as well. 

It has been always been hard to snatch players from Manchester City in the last decade unless they themselves wanted to sell. Almost all the star players of the Manchester based side have remained at the club during their peak. We will have to wait and see if that trend continues in the future considering Sterling's demand.
