Marvin Vettori: Potential UFC Middleweight World Champion

Marvin “The Italian Dream” Vettori has been making a name for himself in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. With a win versus Kevin Holland, Vettori increases his winning streak to five. The last person who defeated him was Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya, back in 2018.

Marvin Vettori was initially scheduled to fight against Darren Till, who broke his collarbone just a few days before the fight night. 

Kevin Holland was the replacement but he was defeated by The Italian Dream easily. It was a dominant win, Vettori’s next opponent might be the Middleweight Champion of the world, Israel Adensanya.

Marvin Vettori’s professional MMA record currently stands at 17-4, only 2 of those losses have been in the UFC. He is 7-2 in the UFC, which is an impressive record for anyone to have in this organization.

The middleweight champion of the world might be looking forward to having a rematch avenging his loss against the Polish Light Heavyweight Champion of the World Jan Blachowicz, even after his trainer saying that he’s getting back to 185-pound weight class.

Marvin Vettori’s best matchup right now might be Robert Whittaker, who’s also one of the most dominant middleweights right now. This might risk Vettori’s title shot, so he might look for someone who has not been as lethal as Bobby Knuckles.

Derek Brunson might be someone Vettori would want to fight next. It would be a credible victory if Marvin Vettori manages to stop Brunson, who’s been on a 4 fight winning streak as well.

Darren Till might try to get his name back into the title shot, if he gets in the ring with The Italian Dream.

In the first fight, Israel Adesanya managed to get a split decision victory over Marvin Vettori. We can assume that both fighters have evolved ever since. 

With Robert Whittaker wanting to get a few more fights before getting the title shot, Vettori seems like the next title fight in the middleweight division against The Last Stylebender.

Marvin Vettori entered the UFC back in 2016, and has lost only twice since. One of them was in his 2nd fight in the elite organization against Anotonio Carlos Junior, who was then 7-2 in his MMA career. 

Of course, his second loss came against Israel Adesanya back in 2018, which was a close fight. We definitely look forward to what The Italian Dream has next for us. Israel Adesanya vs. Marvin Vettori might be a fight for the history books.
