Miami Open 2022 Women's Final: Naomi Osaka vs Iga Swiatek Head-to-Head Prediction

The WTA Miami Open will reach its conclusion on Saturday (April 2) as second seed Iga Swiatek tries to make it three WTA 1000 titles in a row in 2022. 

Standing in her way will be four-time Grandslam champion Naomi Osaka, the former World No.1 will be determined to clinch a title and once again stamped her authority on the tennis world. 

The final will be just the second time these two meet head-to-head and will be an exciting prospect provided by their current form.

The only previous meeting between the pair came in 2019 at the Canadian Masters, where Osaka ran out winner by 7-6, 6-4. 

Interestingly, Swiatek hasn't dropped a set in the entire tournament while Osaka has dropped only one set in the course of the tournament, which was against Belinda Bencic in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win in the semis. 

The upcoming contest will probably serve as a nail-biting scenario for fans provided both the players are in hot form.

While Iga Swiatek will have spring in her step, having not dropped a set, she will be focused on extracting revenge on Osaka from the 2019 loss. 

The aerial forehand has been a strong asset for Swiatek, while her break-point conversion rate is hardly matched by anyone on the tour. 

The former French Open champion's moment across the court has been dazzling, which also saw her make the cut in Indian Wells a few days ago.

Naomi Osaka, 24, on the flip side was a shining star not so long ago, but fitness issues kept her away from titles. 

The former US Open and Australian Open champion will now be trying to get to her best, she hasn't been seeded in the tournament. Osaka has a good first serve, with 78 % of first serves going on target.

While the Japanese star has been fluent across the court, she has beaten the likes of former Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber, Danielle Rose Collins and Alison Riske. 

Karolina Muchova gave her a walkover in R32, while Belinda Bencic was the toughest test for her so far.

On the other hand, the Polish star, Swiatek, has hardly been troubled throughout the campaign as she will try to win her third course consecutive WTA 1000 event, having won Qatar Open and Indian Wells. 

The 20-year-old beat former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova in the quarter-final while Jessica Pegula was beaten comprehensively in a 6-2, 7-5 win.
