Rounding up midweek Premier League action from Gameweek 15

Midweek Premier League action saw some exciting matches which included the Merseyside derby and Jose Mourinho's return to Old Trafford, albeit in Tottenham colors. 

Crystal Palace kicked off proceedings with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth. The Eagles were rock solid defensively which resulted in a win and a clean sheet. Despite an early red card for Mamadou Sakho, Roy Hodgson's men overcame the Cherries thanks to a Jeffrey Schlupp strike.

Manchester City were in action next as they pummeled Burnley, 4-1, at Turf Moor. The Clarets began with a very compact formation and produced some chances until Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring in the 24th minute. Jesus' goal opened the floodgates as the Brazilian bagged a brace and Riyad Mahrez and Rodri also got on the scoresheet.

Chelsea faced Aston Villa and won with two stunning team goals scored by Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount. The Villans, however, did score in the match via Trézéguet who was assisted by Ahmed Elmohamady. This is the first time two Egyptian players have combined to score a Premier League goal.

Leicester City looked good in a routine 2-0 win over bottom feeders Watford. Jamie Vardy opened the scoring via a penalty and James Maddison doubled the lead in the dying minutes of the game.

The most highly anticipated fixture this week was Manchester United vs Tottenham and it did not disappoint. A Marcus Rashford masterclass helped Manchester United get one over their former boss with the Englishman's brace proving to be the difference maker.

Rashford struck early on to give United the lead in the sixth minute. Tottenham equalized 33 minutes later through an in-form Dele Alli. The Red Devils were then awarded a penalty early on in the second half and Rashford duly converted. The Englishman has 12 goals in his last 13 games for club and country.

Nuno Espirito Santo's Wolves continued their strong run, beating West Ham at the Molinieux. Manuel Pellegrini's time as the Hammers' boss looks to be on its last legs.

Southampton faced Norwich to take the three points after picking up a 2-0 lead but conceding one later on.

The Merseyside derby was a treat to watch with six goals scored in the first half itself.

Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri found the net in the sixth and 17th minute respectively. Everton responded through Michael Keane in the 21st minute. The hosts increased their lead through Origi in the 31st minute. 

Sadio Mane, who also assisted twice in the half, scored Liverpool's fourth in the 45th minute. The Toffees, however, did get a goal through Richarlison in first-half stoppage time.

The second half was tamer with the only goal coming in the 90th minute through Georginio Wijnaldum.

Liverpool are still undefeated in the Premier League and sit comfortably on top, eight points ahead of second-placed Leicester City.
