Paulo Dybala: Would love to represent Barcelona someday
As he waits for a contract extension at Juventus, Paulo Dybala has revealed that it would be nice to play for Barcelona.
Dybala, 26, was enjoying a decent season until it was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Argentine is expected to stay in Turin, where he is contracted until 2022.
However, Dybala also admitted that it would be nice to reunite with his international team-mate Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
Dybala while talking to CNN said, “The truth is that Barcelona is a huge team worldwide and with Messi, they’re even bigger. It would be very nice but Juventus is also an incredible club, very big, full of history, where there are currently great players.”
“There’s enough quality here to make two teams and the chance to play with Buffon and Cristiano Ronaldo, who make the club even bigger.” Dybala, who has fired 13 goals and set up seven in 34 games this season, said that he is still waiting.
Dybala was keen on signing a contract as soon as possible as he’s seen other players getting their contracts renewed too. Dybala accepted the fact that the coronavirus pandemic has created a financial instability or a crisis at the club and that’s the reason he’s waiting for it eagerly.
Dybala still has a year and a half left on his contract but usually, players when they become a part of a club, especially a club like Juventus, expect an extension as soon as their contracts come under a two-year or less span of expiry.
Considering the way Dybala has impacted at Juventus, a contract extension is very likely.
However, commenting that it would be nice to represent the Catalans, Dybala has cleverly opened a room that may lead him to Camp Nou if things in Turin don’t work out.
Barcelona, who are linked with the return of Neymar day in day out would be looking at the possibility of signing the Argentine too as they also look forward to buying Juve’s rivals Inter Milan, Lautaro Martinez.
As things stand, the union of the latter with the Catalans sounds more realistic.
