Pep Guardiola is worried about Sergio Aguero’s injury

Manchester City brushed Burnley aside 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium in their second Premier League game since football resumed. 

Sadly, the win also gave City a huge blow as Sergio Aguero sustained a bad knee injury, ruling him out of two important fixtures coming ahead, against Chelsea and Liverpool respectively.

Pep Guardiola is reported to be without the service of the Argentine for a significant period of time as his injury “doesn’t look good.” Aguero’s winning a first-half penalty was crucial in setting up the tone of the game in the way Guardiola expected them to.

Guardiola was unsure of the exact details of his injury but in his interview, he told Sky Sports that the City striker has soreness in his knee, which appeared to be aggravated in a challenge with the Burnley skipper Ben Mee.

Pep said, “That doesn’t look good. Something in the knee, so we’ll see tomorrow. He felt something in his knee and he struggled in the last month with some pain, so we will see. I’m not a doctor, but it doesn’t look good.”

Luckily, Riyad Mahrez was there to the rescue and scored a vital brace that included the penalty won by Aguero. 

Phil Foden was another big talking point of the game as the youngster scored two and set up one, which was ultimately scored by David Silva.

Aguero has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season, with his 16 Premier League goals coming with a goal per minute ratio of 91 minutes. 

Clearly, the Argentine’s absence will be a huge loss but City are expected to manage well without him as Leroy Sane returned after a long-term injury.

As per reports, City will wait nervously to learn the extent of Aguero’s injury as the striker is set to travel to Barcelona for an assessment on his damaged left knee.
