Phil Foden in awe of Manchester City veteran David Silva

Phil Foden was the man of the match in Manchester City’s thumping win against Burnley but he was keen to share the credit with David Silva.

Under-21 star Foden scored twice in a 5-0 victory with David Silva being on the scoreline as well. The Spaniard is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, finally closing the curtains on a glorious decade filled with trophies and also after establishing himself as one of the finest playmakers in the world.

Silva’s departure will be a green signal to give more minutes to the English youngster, although he is disappointed to see a man he has cited as an inspiration on the way out.

While talking to Sky Sports, Foden said, “They should extend his contract, to be honest. How he played today, he’s unbelievable to play with. I don’t want to think about Silva leaving too much. I’m just enjoying playing with him. He’s a great guy and a legend for the club.”

Foden started with his valuable contributions when he scored the only goal against Spurs in last season’s tight title race and also earned the Man of the Match award in March’s EFL Cup final against the Villains.

However, Foden felt that his most recent performance was his best in a City shirt and said that he has a lot more to learn.

Foden was also involved in the build-up of a beautiful goal that was scored by David Silva. When asked about it, he said, “We have a set-piece coach. We’ve been working really hard on short camera and defending as well. I knew where I was going to play the pass, it’s just about just disguising it to give the player more time. I’m glad it came off.”
