Paul Pogba set to leave Manchester United
When Manchester United spent a world record transfer fee of 89 million pounds to secure Paul Pogba's services from Juventus, there was a lot of hype. Fans and critics thought that the team built around the Frenchman will bring back the glory days of the club. While Pogba has arguably been the best player in his time at the club, inconsistency has marred his second spell at the club.
At the start of 2019/20 season, Manchester United fans were hoping that Pogba will take more responsibility. Sadly, for United fans, the Frenchman has been able to play just 610 minutes of football this season. Pogba had to go under the knife yet again, and it remains to be seen when he will return to the first-team action.
According to Sky Germany, Paul Pogba is looking to leave the club and join Real Madrid or Juventus in the summer. While completing a move in the winter window is also a possibility, the club refused to sell him without replacements. The report further stated that the midfielder wants to play under his hero Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
The player wants to move, but that doesn't make the deal a certainty. Manchester United is demanding 150 million pounds for the player, which is a lot more than Juventus' and Real Madrid's valuation of the player. The complicated relationship between the club and Pogba's agent Mino Raiola makes it even more difficult to conclude the deal.
While the amount demanded by United for a player who has missed a huge part of the season seems high, Pogba has a lot of qualities. The Frenchman has performed at the highest level, including the World Cup final, which makes him a valuable asset to have. The clubs will surely line up for his signature if he becomes available, but Manchester United would want to retain the star who is very important in the rebuilding project.
