The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 has already seen some extraordinary batting and bowling performances in the first week of the tournament. With centuries in almost every match till now this edition of the World Cup has already been the most exciting one. Glenn Maxwell shattering Ricky Ponting's record of 31 sixes and become the Australian player with the most maximums in the tournament

Glenn Maxwell is on the verge of breaking Ricky Ponting’s record for hitting the most sixes in the Cricket World Cup. The right-hander has hit 21 sixes so far in 16 innings and has scored 324 runs in eight matches. He is fourth on the list of Australian players to hit the most sixes in the World Cup and he could become the leading six-hitter for his nation in the tournament, surpassing Matthew Hayden, Aaron Finch, and Ricky Ponting.

Mitchell Starc becoming the highest wicket-taker in the tournament, surpassing Glenn McGrath 

Starc can become the all-time highest wicket-taker in the World Cup surpassing Glenn McGrath who has taken 71 wickets. In Australia’s title win in the 2015 World Cup, Mitchell Starc spearheaded Australia’s bowling attack from the front. Bagging 22 wickets in eight matches at an economy of 3.50, he became the joint-leading wicket-taker in the tournament, along with the New Zealand pacer Trent Boult. 

In the next edition in England, Starc wet one step ahead to become the lone highest wicket-taker in the tournament and picked up 27 wickets in 10 matches at an economy of 5.43

Mohammed Shami breaking the records of Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan and becoming the highest wicket-taker for India in World Cup

Indian pacer Mohammad Shami can become the highest wicket-taker for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup. The pacer became the fourth-leading wicket-taker in the 2015 World Cup, picking up 17 wickets in seven matches at an economy of 4.81, with his best bowling innings of 4/35 against Pakistan. In the 2019 World Cup Shami wasn’t a part of the team in the initial matches but was brought in after an injury to Bhuvneshwar Kumar against Pakistan and made an instant impact, especially against Afghanistan when he took a hat trick to help India win a low scoring thriller.

Most CWC hundreds (7) and most international sixes (556): Rohit Sharma 

Rohit has now scored seven World Cup centuries, which is the most by a batter in ODI World Cup history. He went past Sachin Tendulkar who scored 6 centuries. Rohit has taken only 19 innings to get to this milestone.
