The veteran wasted no time as he took advantage of a dramatic defensive error and produced a world class finish by coolly chipping the ball over the goalkeeper.

The effort on goal was sumptuous and he performed his trademark "Siii" Celebration after scoring the goal.

Ronaldo is also closing on another important record as he is just 15 goals away from becoming the all-time International goalscorer.

Semedo's shot on target was rebutted by the Luxembourg Goalkeeper, only for the Manchester city star to tap the ball into the back of the net.

Despite the recent dilemma he has faced regarding a controversial tweet on comparing his club teammate Benjamin Mendy to a black cartoon character, the attacker gave an energetic performance regularly causing havoc in the Die Roten's defence.

Coming in as a substitute for Bernardo Silva in the 77th minute,Valencia winger Goncalo Guedes added another goal for the Selecao in the dying moments as he drilled the ball into the post after capitalizing on a poor clearance by the opposition defence.

Portugal were flawless in attack as they registered 10 shots on target with a pass accuracy of 89 percent.

The Reds are currently placed second with 11 points in Group B. They will meet table toppers Ukraine on tuesday at the NSC Olympiskiy, Kiev and a win over them will ensure Portugal's presence in the next European Championship.
