Sanju Samson scores fastest List A double hundred by an Indian

When all the focus is on Virat Kohli and his men in Pune, where India is taking on South Africa in the second Test. Sanju Samson, the Kerala wicket-keeper batsman has done something special in Alur. Kerala was up against Goa in the group game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the KSCA Ground. Kerala’s captain, Robin Uthappa won the toss and opted to bat first.

Uthappa was the first batsman to get dismissed that too obstructing the field. Samson came out to bat at number three and even though he hadn’t got a big score, he was looking in a good touch with the bat as he had got some 30s and 40s for his team. In this game, however, he didn’t make the same mistake of getting out after a good start. It was his day, the youngster kept on batting throughout the innings and ended up with a double hundred to his name. 

Samson who has always been there but couldn't come into limelight finally made the headlines with his mighty score. He played a brilliant knock of 212 off just 129 balls, which included 21 fours and 10 sixes. His record-breaking innings helped Kerala post a mammoth total of 377-3. 

He broke several records in his stunning innings of 212*. This is not the only the highest score in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but also the highest List A score by a wicket-keeper. He reached his double hundred in just 125 balls, which is the fastest in List A by an Indian. He is also the first Indian to score a double century in List A at the number three position. All the others batsmen have done it from the opening position.

From his early days, Samson has always been considered as a talented batsman who deserves a place in Indian team. When he is in flow at that time there are very few batsmen who can match him with his timing and placement. 

In every IPL season, he plays one or two good knocks and then fades away. Let’s hope that’s not the case this time. He has a great opportunity to keep scoring runs and knock the door of the Indian team. He has the talent, it's just a case of using it to the fullest and if he does it, then no one can stop him.
