The Weekly Premier League review: Matchday 17

16th December, Saturday

Premier League Matchday 17 is here and we will be witnessing some exciting clashes with all the respective managers of their teams keeping a watchful eye on their player's form and contribution as the winter transfer window approaches us. It’d be something to watch out for as teams will be open to buying and selling players to strengthen their teams for the second half of the league which is considered important to finish the campaign on a high.

Bournemouth vs Luton Town

Time: 8:30 pm

Dominik Solanki is among the top scorers in the Premier League season 2023-2024. The Forward will be leading the line against a Luton Town team who have played some exciting football recently with their last two matches against two of the Big Six clubs which they lost with a margin of just a goal. It’s not even a point in talking about how exciting the game will be as both the inform teams will face different objectives in mind one might look to move away from the drop zone and the other will look to not get closer to it being away for a very long time.

Bournemouth injury list: Randolph, Kelly, Aarons, Scott, Marcondes, Fredricks

Luton Town injury list: Nakamba, Lokonga, Anderson, Osho, Woodrow, Potts, Burke

Chelsea vs Sheffield United

Time: 8:30

New Manager, more signings, and same old Chelsea. The Blue club from the West side of London city hasn’t had the best start to the campaign yet again for the second season running. As soon as one feels that they have caught form, they slip again with them now facing the Sheffield United squad who are last in the Premier League table, they’d be hoping to catch form with a win against them to build up a different kind of campaign concerning the one they have had now.

Chelsea injury list: Sanchez, James, Madueke, Gusto, Chilwell, Lavia, Chalobah, Betinelli, Ogochukwo

Sheffield United injury list: Robinson, Baldock, Brewster, Basham, Davies, Coulibaly, Jebbison,

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace

Time: 8:30 pm

Manchester City have had times this time out when they lead the Premier League table for a while. The Defending champions sometimes have not had a chance to even enter the top 3 as they had a slump in form with defeats to the opposition in the league. Erling Haaland is a doubt for the upcoming matches as he has been suffering from an injury and with Kevin de Buyne also not available, it’d be hard for them to face a Crystal Palace side who will be looking to make their chances count against City side who have some of their major player unavailable.

Manchester City injury list: Haaland, Stefen, Doku, De Bruyne

Crystal Palace injury list: Ayew, Lerma, Holding, Edouard, Johnston, Eze, Henderson, Adarmola, Ferguson

Newcastle vs Fulham

Time: 8:30

Newcastle’s loss to AC Milan in the champions Peague must have hurt them a lot as they couldn’t find themselves a place to even play in the Europa League as they ended their European campaign in the fourth position in the group. They have been decent in the Premier League though and will hope to encourage their League campaign with a win over Fulham who themselves are performing very well but are just short of converting their performances into wins. They sit in 10th position at the moment and it’d be an exciting match to see with the attacking line of both the teams being star-studded with forms on both of their favors.

Newcastle injury list: Trippier, Gordon, Tonali, Pope, Willock, Murphy, Targett, Anderson, Botman, Barns

Fulham injury list: Ream, Traore, Muniz, Diop, Francois

Burnley vs Everton

Time: 11:00 pm

Relegation Battlers Everton and Burnley will face off in the Premier League to improve their standing to avoid the drop zone during the end of the season. Everton currently sits at 17th just above the relegation zone while Vincent Kompany’s Burnley is in 19th. Everton have been in the drop zone even after 7 wins in this campaign due to the punishment they got for breaking the Financial FairPlay rules but even after that they have shown good form and a win might take them above Nottingham Forest as they lost to Tottenham.

Burnley injury list: Taylor, Obafemi, Ramsey, Cullen, Cork, Forster, Koleosho, Manuel

Everton injury list: Young, Coleman, Alli, Gomes, Gueye, Braithwaite
