Virat Kohli to become the fastest cricketer to score 21000 international runs

There's no denying in the fact that Virat Kohli has been one of best batsmen of the current generation. Even when there is a debate around the Fab Four of the world cricket, Kohli always takes slight edge over the other and seems head and shoulders above every other cricketer. His ability to overcome his failures is the standout quality that has allowed him to prolong his success and bring consistency to his batting.

Talking about individual formats currently, his teammate Rohit Sharma possesses similar quality and record in ODIs, while in test cricket Steve Smith is the only player who comes close to Kohli's caliber.

In his 11-year long career, the Indian has overhauled almost every possible batting record that has come his way. While he continues to witness a record-breaking spree for himself in each format of the game, he's once again on the brink of registering his name in the history books. 

In the upcoming three matches test series against South Africa, Kohli would want to continue his merry run in tests at home soil as he eyes yet another batting record. After being the fastest to reach the milestone of 15k, 16k, 17k, 18k, 19k, and 20k International runs, he can even go onto become the fastest cricketer to claim the landmark of 21,000 International runs.

 Currently, Kohli has a tally of 20,719 runs in just 432 innings in International cricket. He needs another 281 runs in 41 innings to become the fastest player to claim this historic milestone. At present, Sachin Tendulkar is the quickest to 21,000 runs in merely 473 innings, while Lara is the second-fastest to reach this milestone (485 innings).

There is no doubt that Kohli will eventually overtake Tendulkar to become the quickest batsman to claim this feat. The question is only about when he takes his tally of runs past 21,000 runs landmark. With a plethora of records to his name, the Indian skipper already finds himself in the league of one of the finest cricketers to ever grace this game.
