Zidane overtakes Mourinho to record third-most wins as Madrid boss

Zinedine Zidane moved into the third spot on the list for most wins as Real Madrid manager in a 4-1 win against Osasuna. After trailing by a goal early on, Real responded in great fashion.

Goals from Isco, Lucas Vasquez, Sergio Ramos and Luka Jovic ensured that Los Blancos pick up a comfortable win to maintain their lead at the top of La Liga.

The triumph was Zidane's 88th in La Liga and the Frenchman is now ahead of former boss Jose Mourinho in the club's all-time standings.

Zidane required only 130 games to reach 88 wins, having faced defeats in just 15 matches since he first joined the club in 2016.

Mourinho, though, managed his 87 wins in just 114 games before departing from the club in 2013.

However, as per Goal, the next man for Zidane to overtake is former Spain manager Vicente del Bosque but is still a long way off breaking the record held by Miguel Munoz, who spent a total 15 years in the Santiago Bernabeu dugout.

Real's record book also saw their captain, Ramos, who netted the team's second goal in his 440th league appearance for the club, move ahead of Fernando Hierro into the fifth spot in the club's all-time list.

On what was a gorgeous occasion, Real remained three points clear of Barcelona at the table top but Zidane insisted that the team cannot afford to get carried away at this point in the league.

He said,“ Victory does not change anything, we are very happy because it's not easy. We will continue working hard, we have not won anything. Congratulate the players because it is not easy.”

Real Madrid are getting closer and closer to one of their toughest tests this season, Pep's Manchester City. 

The defending Premier League champions will be looking forward to this battle in search of the Champions League after failing to do so in their last two seasons even after proving themselves as one of the most lethal teams in the world of football.
