Chelsea ace unhappy with Inter for dropping their pursuit of him

Olivier Giroud is reportedly very, very upset about the fact that Inter Milan didn’t continue their interest in him.

Inter opted to make other overseas signings during the mid-season transfer window, rather than Giroud, who was on their radar in December itself.

There were reports that the Italian giants even got in touch with Giroud. The two parties were on the same page in terms of player's wages and the other terms and conditions.

However, the deal couldn’t be agreed between Inter and Giroud’s parent club Chelsea. It is understood that Inter actually didn’t push for the player enough and rather turned their attention towards Christian Eriksen and Ashley Young.

“Inter Milan's attitude towards Olivier Giroud has been very disrespectful. We've made a player who's behaving in an exemplary fashion and who had given priority to Inter Milan.” A source close to Giroud said while speaking to RMC Sport.

As far as Chelsea are concerned, they had no problems in letting Giroud go, but they wanted to secure the services of a quality forward before parting ways with the Frenchman. However, they couldn’t find the right man in the winter and eventually, kept hold of Giroud.

One of the reasons why Giroud was keen on making a move to Inter was because he was looking forward to some playing opportunities in the Italian top flight. The Frenchman is evidently not getting in the Premier League at the moment. 

The 33-year old is not the first choice striker at Stamford Bridge anymore. Although he has not lost his spot in the starting XI of France, his lack of playing time at the club level might affect the chances of him being picked in the Les Blues squad for Euro 2020.

Giroud has made 70 appearances for Chelsea in his two-year stay at the club so far. However, he is expected to play second fiddle to Tammy Abraham, who is currently tyhe first choice striker at the west London club.
