The Old Lady's unbeaten Serie A run comes to an end

Maurizio Sarri's side tasted their first Seria A defeat in a four-goal thriller against Lazio. The match commenced with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring with an assist by Rodrigo Bentancur in the 25th minute of the game. 20 minutes after breaking the deadlock, Lazio responded well with Ciro Immobile missing some good chances.

Nevertheless, just at the stroke of half-time, Luiz Felipe scored an amazing goal assisted by Luis Alberto, who had received a yellow card, just after six minutes into the game. Paulo Dybala and Miralem Pjanic were the other two players to get booked in the opening half.

The second half began slowly, as both sides tried to penetrate the opposition's defense. In the 63rd minute, Alex Sandro got past Manuel Lazzari, who responded by a poor challenge, earning himself a yellow card.

Juan Cuadrado, brought down Lazzari from a very inaccurate challenge as the wing-back passed through him. The Juventus midfielder was given a yellow but after having a look on the screen via VAR, the referee overruled the earlier yellow and gave a straight red.

In the 74th minute of the game, Lazio took a lead with a goal from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic assisted by Luis Alberto, making his second assist of the game. Just three minutes after Lazio’s second goal, a lazy challenge by Szczesny on Joaquin Correa got him a booking, while Immobile prepared to take a spot-kick.

The Lazio forward was denied by a stunning double save from the Former Arsenal keeper. Sarri replaced Dybala with Gonzalo Higuain, as Juventus were in a desperate need of an equaliser. With nothing going in Juventus’ favour, they looked to throw everyone forward except for Szczesny for a free-kick to which, Lazio quickly countered and registered their third and the final goal of the game.

An incredible stat is that Lazio have scored the most number of goals in the final 30 minutes of the game in Seria A this season with 14 goals while Juventus, have conceded the least during the same period. Juventus are currently 2 points behind the league leaders, Internazionale.
